We see a lot of foggy headlights come through the Freeman Grapevine Service Department to be restored. Hazy, or foggy headlights are fairly common place, especially in constantly changing and extreme weather conditions of the DFW Metroplex. Keep in mind, that cleaning foggy headlights might not be a problem that you have to deal with right now with your new Buick or GMC, but it might pop up somewhere down the road. Most modern new car headlights are made out of plastic, and as the years pass, light causes them to oxidize and it forms a yellowish tint over the lenses. This wasn’t really a problem back before the 1980s when most headlight covers were made of glass. That’s right all you youngsters, at one time headlights were glass and almost as easy to change as light bulb…but I digress.

Modern car manufacturers put a coating on the headlights to help keep the oxidizing at bay, but given enough time, those headlights are still going to fog up. This can have a severe impact on your night time driving visibility. Light rays can be cut and diffused by an oxidized headlight lens to the point of being dangerous.

The good news is, if you notice your headlight lenses are starting to turn yellow, you don’t have to throw them out and get new ones (which a lot of people do, unfortunately). It’s extremely expensive to buy replacement lenses. I know this isn’t my regular topic of conversation about Buick and GMC vehicles, in fact, I’d say it’s more important. I just wanted to remind you that you should exercise your right to vote tomorrow. Every 4 years, it seems like the voter seems to be getting smaller and smaller.

Now I’m not here to tell you to vote for, after all, this isn’t a political blog and I believe that everyone has the right to vote for whom they choose. I just wanted to remind you of the importance of turning out to vote and have your voice be heard. True, it is a voice among millions, but it is your voice none the less. This is your chance to support you government and your country and all you have to do is participate.

Think about it, how many countries in the world are there where the people are told who will lead them, regardless of the popular opinion? How many countries is it a crime for you to speak your mind, or voice your opinion? For those people, I’m sure they’d gladly trade places with you just so they are allowed to have an opinion and a hand in shaping the future of their country.

Even further, if you don’t vote, you are just letting others make the decisions for you. What happens when yo don’t agree with the guy “they” put in the White House? Do you have a right to complain? Sure. But since you decided to muzzled yourself instead of voting, do people have to ignore you? Yes. The point is, if you don’t vote, you give up your voice. That resounding American voice that billions of people across the world WISH they had.

The bottom line is, if you choose not to vote for the next leader of this country, then you are turning your back on the very principles that this great country was founded upon. Get up and vote, Dallas Fort Worth. Your vote matters…but only if you do it. An uncast vote is a wasted opportunity to change America for the better.

Hurricane Sandy Flooded Cars Make Way Across Nation

OK, here’s the deal Dallas Fort Worth. Hurricane Sandy really did a number on the Northeast. The chances of many of the cars which were flooded out being sold for salvage is pretty high. If you are looking at purchasing a used car in the coming months be wary. If you don’t think that a flooded car from the Northeast can make its way to Texas, think again. In fact, those selling salvaged vehicles are going to do everything they can to get the vehicle as far away from the flood zones as possible as to not draw suspicion.

Of course, your best bet is to bring the car to a certified technician for a thorough inspection. The bottom line is that if you suspect that a car has been in a flood, DON’T BUY IT! Halloween is just a couple of days away and that means the kids are going to be out in droves. If you must drive your Dallas Fort Worth Buick or GMC, take extra special care this holiday season ans the kids are going to be excited and safety is probably the last thing on their mind.

Of course it’s parent’s responsibility to make sure that their kids are save while trick-or-treating, but it’s also yours if you plan to be out on the roads. Remember, take it extra slow in the neighborhoods and suburbs. Don’t just expect kids to be using the corners to cross at, they can come from anywhere.

Where’s The Fastest Speed Limit In America

If you guessed Texas, you are right! Apparently, the House Voted to agree to satisfy Texan’s need for speed. At this point in time, the new speed limit increases aren’t going to be up here in the DFW area any time soon from what I understand. In fact, I believe the 85mph speed limit will be down in the Austin area. Of course, once adopted, you’ll see the new speed limits pop up all over rural stretches of highways.

So, how does this make YOU feel? Aren’t people already exceeding the speed limit most ot the time anyway? Will an sped limit increase or decrease the number of accidents on the road? Do you already go 85mph on the highways? If you do, would you let your kids?

Do You Know How A Muffler Works?

How To Check Your Radiator For Leaks

Your Dallas Fort Worth Buick GMC dealer, Freeman Grapevine wants to remind you that it’s a good thing to check your radiator periodically for leaks. A large leak is obviously easy to spot, as you will see green anti-freeze collecting under your vehicle. However, not all leaks are as easy to determine. For example, the walls of your radiator are fairly thin and can develop cracks from the pressure that build up during normal driving. These tiny fissures may be leaking fluid at a slow pace and it might be difficult to tell if there is even a leak at all.
