That is, thinking about how important the auto industry is to local economies. Here’s something that some of you may have known, but some may not. GM has a large manufacturing plant just down the road in Arlington, TX. It manufacturers next generation of full-size Chevrolet Tahoes, Suburbans, GMC Yukons and Cadillac Escalades. This plant is integral to the economy of the Arlington, TX area which, in turn, affects the entirety of the DFW Metroplex. Sot, when you buy a GM vehicle, you are investing in your own backyard. So just keep that in mind when you are choosing your next vehicle. There’s no doubt that Texans love their GM vehicles, because GM has been  watching and has responded by investing more into the plant.

According to egmcartech.com

GM announced today that it is starting construction next week on its new $200 million facility that will create around 180 jobs.

“Our investment in GM’s Arlington plant is one more example of GM strengthening the economy and creating jobs throughout the many U.S. communities where GM does business,” said GM Manufacturing Manager Larry Zahner.

GM’s new investment in the facility is on top of a $331 million investment to purchase tooling and equipment and expand the Arlington Assembly Plant that was announced along with 110 additional jobs in May 2011.
